Welcome to the Resident User Guide

What is Resident?
Resident is a mobile day-counting application designed for people who travel frequently across countries where day counting is used to determine tax residency and tax domicile.

The Application uses:

Location Data
Tax Rules

to provide real-time residency information to users, tax advisors, and employers.

This guide is designed to help users navigate the app and understand the key features for managing international tax affairs. The app is available on iOS and Android and is London-headquartered.

Check Your Phone’s Settings

To ensure Resident works properly:

1. Open your phone’s Settings

2. Scroll to Resident App

3. Set Location to “Always”

4. Enable Notifications

Tax Residence Audit Features

These features help the user understand and maintain correct tax residency status.

2.1 New Country Notifications

Shows when the user enters a new country
Screen allows:
- “Date view”
- "Swipe" left to delete notifications

2.2 Missing Information Notifications
Alerts the user when additional travel information is required.

Select “Missing Info”
Upload the required travel evidence (e.g., photos, documents)
Once uploaded, information is updated

2.3 Change of Tax Residence Status
Shows whether a user is considered resident or non-resident.

Summary Screen

The summary screen contains three core functions:

3.1 Filter Dates

Select “Filter”
Choose start and end dates
Obtain residency information for the selected period

3.2 International Tax Information

Tap the “Resident” icon beside any country
Select the “info” button
View detailed international tax information (residency rules, thresholds, etc.)

3.3 Notifications Icon

Tap the “Bell” icon
View all past notifications
Swipe left to delete

Menu Functions

4.1 Day Count

Use passcode or Face ID to enter
Review daily travel logs
Swipe left to edit
Upload travel evidence (photos/documents)
Save updates

4.2 Export Data to Your Adviser

Choose a date range
Enter the adviser’s email
Add a message
Export, then check your inbox

4.3 Change Your App’s Settings

Enter using passcode / Face ID
Update:
- Name
- Email
- Nationality
- Residence
- Tax/Location settings toggles
Save Changes

Privacy & Data Protection

1. What personal data we collect

Name, email address, nationality, travel history, residence status information.
Device / usage data (e.g. IP address, device type) - if applicable.
Any additional data you voluntarily provide:
- Support requests
- Document uploads

2. Why we collect your data - Purpose

To provide tax-residency tracking and related services.
To verify your identity when you request account/data deletion or export residency data.
To send important notifications:
- Residency status changes
- Missing information alerts
- User support updates
To comply with legal or regulatory obligations.

Access is restricted to authorized staff only.
We follow relevant data-protection standards and ensure lawful processing under applicable laws.
We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.
